Zamfara State Intensifies Fight Against Youth Drug Abuse

Zamfara State is intensifying its fight against drug abuse among youths, as highlighted by Governor Dauda Lawal during a security summit held on Saturday in Gusau. The summit, themed "Strengthening Campus Security," aimed to address concerns related to drug abuse within educational institutions.

Governor Lawal described drug abuse as a critical issue affecting youth nationwide, contributing to insecurity, social misconduct, and criminal activities. In response, the state government is sponsoring youth back-to-school initiatives and providing empowerment opportunities to promote sustainable livelihoods, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship.

Additionally, the government supports sports and mentorship programs to channel youth energy into productive ventures. Governor Lawal urged students and young people to remain focused, promote responsible behavior, and engage with authorities.

Ibrahim Halilu Talban Damri, the chairman of the Zamfara State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students, called for intensified efforts to end drug abuse, which he described as a social vice affecting students.
