Zamfara Speaker and 12 Lawmakers Defect to APC

On March 24, during a plenary session in Gusau, the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, alongside 12 lawmakers, announced their defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move follows the recent defection of Governor Dauda Lawal from PDP to APC.

The lawmakers, including Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu Gummi and Chief Whip Rilwanu Nagambo, expressed their unanimous decision to join the APC to support Governor Lawal in bringing development to the state. They emphasized that leaving the PDP was necessary to ensure full support for the governor and to encourage smooth collaboration between the state and federal governments.

The APC is scheduled to formally receive the defectors, including Governor Lawal, on Tuesday, March 24. The Zamfara State House of Assembly now has 24 members following this significant political shift.
