Zamfara Speaker and 12 Lawmakers Defect to APC

On Monday, during a plenary session in Gusau, Bilyaminu Moriki, the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), accompanied by 12 other state assembly members. This decision was formalized with a letter of resignation presented to the House.

The defectors expressed their intent to support Governor Dauda Lawal in bringing development to the state. The APC is scheduled to officially receive the defectors on Tuesday, March 24, with Governor Lawal and Vice President Kashim Shettima expected to attend the event.

Among the defectors are notable figures such as Adamu Aliyu Gummi, the Deputy Speaker, and Rilwanu Nagambo, the Chief Whip. The lawmakers stated that their decision to leave the PDP was necessary to foster collaboration between the state and federal governments.
