Zamfara Stakeholders Urge Governor Lawal to Join APC

Stakeholders in Zamfara State are advocating for Governor Dauda Lawal to defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This call comes in the wake of significant losses for the PDP, highlighted by the recent defection of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to the APC.

An APC stalwart, Iran Muhammad, disclosed that Lawal convened an emergency meeting with PDP stakeholders to discuss the political direction of the state. During this meeting, recommendations were made to join the APC.

Lawal is one of the last three PDP governors remaining, following the exits of Fintiri, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. The PDP is currently grappling with internal leadership crises, which have contributed to these defections.

Additionally, former governorship candidate for the PDP in Nasarawa State, Emmanuel David Ombugadu, has formally resigned from the party, citing unresolved internal disputes.
