Emir of Zazzau Urges Families to Curb Lavish Spending

During the 20th anniversary of the Crystal Muslim Organization (CMO) held in Abuja, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Muhammad Sagir Shettima, called on families to cease extravagant spending on Aso-ebi and cosmetics for weddings. He lamented that despite the economic hardships faced by many in Nigeria, wealthy families continue to spend lavishly, contributing to social vices.

The Emir highlighted that some individuals spend millions on cosmetics and Aso-ebi, with costs reaching up to half a million naira. He pointed out the stark contrast between such spending and the inability of many people to afford three square meals a day.

The Emir urged parents to guide their children against such lavish expenditures and emphasized the importance of investing in skills and education. He also called for political leaders to revive scholarship programs to support those in need of education, advocating for a focus on unity and community support.
