Princ Onukwu Elected Abia IPAC Chairman for 2026-2028

Princ Onukwu of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has been elected as the new chairman of the Abia State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). The election took place in Umuahia and was supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Onukwu's tenure is set to run from 2026 to 2028. The electoral process involved a keen contest among various political parties, with 17 out of 19 registered party chairmen participating.

The former state chairman, Nelson Ulocha of the Young Progress Party (YPP), oversaw the transition of leadership. Other newly elected executives included Victoria Akabuik of the Boot Party as deputy chairman and Larri Charl of the Action Peoples Party.

Upon his election, Onukwu expressed gratitude to his fellow party chairmen and emphasized the need for IPAC to support progressive policies in the state. The ZLP had previously performed well in the local government elections held on November 2, 2024.
