Borno Governor Zulum Condemns Maiduguri Bomb Explosion

On Monday, a bomb explosion occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, prompting Governor Babagana Zulum to condemn the attack as a "despicable, cruel, and cowardly" act targeting innocent people during the holy month of Ramadan. The explosion, which took place around 7:02 PM near the Maiduguri market and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, resulted in an unascertained number of casualties, with reports indicating both fatalities and injuries.

Zulum, who was in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, expressed deep sadness over the incident and called for heightened security measures, particularly in places of worship as the Eid period approaches. He assured the public that military and security agencies are taking adequate measures to prevent further breaches.

The Borno State Police Command, represented by spokesman ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attack and advised residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities. Emergency response teams, including the Federal Fire Service, were deployed to the scene.
