Zulum Alerts Maiduguri Residents of Possible Bomb Threat

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has issued a warning to residents of Maiduguri to stay vigilant during the upcoming Eid prayers, following intelligence reports indicating a possible terrorist attack involving a suspected suicide bomber. In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, Zulum disclosed that security agencies had uncovered information suggesting that an attack could occur during the celebrations.

He specifically mentioned areas such as the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the city roundabout as potential targets. The governor noted that insurgents are currently under military pressure, which may lead them to attempt fresh attacks.

Zulum expressed confidence in the efforts of security agencies to thwart any such plans. He recently returned from a lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia, where he visited victims of a previous blast and commended the federal government's swift response in releasing funds for clearance operations around the fringes of Lake Chad.

He urged residents to exercise caution, particularly in places of worship, and to report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
