Zulum Launches Ramadan Palliatives for 300,000 Households

On Tuesday, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum officially launched a Ramadan palliative program aimed at supporting 300,000 households across 27 local government areas in Borno State. This initiative is designed to alleviate the economic hardships faced by vulnerable residents during the fasting season.

The beneficiaries will receive one bag of rice, one bag of millet, and 10 kilograms of sugar. The distribution exercise took place at Ramat Square, where Governor Zulum charged the committee overseeing the program to maintain transparency and fairness, warning against the diversion of items meant for widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, struggling farmers, and daily wage earners.

He emphasized that items should not be sold or given to friends or family members. Additionally, Zulum directed that the palliatives be extended to Christian residents observing Lent, highlighting the administration's commitment to supporting all communities in the state, including annual food distributions during Christmas and providing free transport for non-indigenous Christians traveling for family ceremonies.
