Zulum Announces Rehabilitation for Freed Borno Abductees

On June 6, 2023, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum visited victims who were recently freed from captivity in the Ngosh community, following an attack on March 4. During his visit, Zulum announced the release of millions of naira for the rehabilitation of the community.

The victims, totaling 360, primarily women and children, shared their traumatic experiences, including limited food and harsh living conditions during their seven-month captivity. One victim, Halima Musa, described surviving on guinea corn and sleeping on the open floor.

Zulum praised President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the rescue process and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces and local security agencies. He confirmed that a total of 434 individuals had been rescued, with plans for their safe and dignified return to the community.

Zulum also distributed relief materials, including food and non-food items, as part of immediate intervention efforts.
