Zulum Unveils N500m Support for Vulnerable Borno Residents

On Tuesday, Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State announced a N500 million cash support package aimed at assisting vulnerable residents in five local government areas: Biu, Hawul, Kwaya Kusar, Shani, and Bayo.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic activity, coinciding with the launch of the 2026 statewide wet farm season at Kwaya Kusar Main Stadium. During the event, Zulum flagged off the sale and distribution of 200 truckloads of NPK fertilizer at a 50% subsidized rate and announced the distribution of free agricultural inputs to 120,000 farmers across the state.

The support includes free agrochemicals, knapsack sprayers, certified seeds, water pumps, bicycles, and post-harvest storage facilities. Zulum emphasized the importance of using the subsidized fertilizer strictly for agricultural crop production and warned beneficiaries against reselling it.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the federal government for their support in enabling state-level development programs.
