Mustapha Gubio Joins Borno Gubernatorial Race with APC Form

Mustapha Gubio, the current commissioner for works in Borno State, has joined the gubernatorial race by picking up the APC nomination form. This announcement was made public by Governor Babagana Zulum, who shared the news via a statement on his Facebook page.

Gubio is noted as the first aspirant to obtain the APC gubernatorial nomination form in the state. He has previously overseen various infrastructure projects across Borno State.

In a related development, Governor Zulum approved the dissolution of the state executive council and directed the commission to handle affairs concerning the ministries and permanent secretaries. This decision aims to create an enabling environment for council members who wish to contest for elective positions in the upcoming general elections.

The announcement was made on March 30, with further directives issued on April 3, 2026, as stated by Bukar Tijani, the secretary of the state government.
