Borno Senator Kaka Lawan Backs Gubio for Governorship

Senator Kaka Lawan, representing Borno Central, has officially withdrawn from the Borno State governorship race to support Mustapha Gubio, the candidate anointed by Governor Babagana Zulum. This decision was announced on Thursday following a stakeholder meeting in Abuja, where it was jointly agreed that Lawan would step down to facilitate Gubio's emergence as the APC gubernatorial candidate.

The meeting included prominent figures such as Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC leaders. Lawan's decision is framed as a move to strengthen democracy and promote political harmony within the APC family in Borno State.

He intends to retain his Senate seat while supporting Gubio. The APC has adopted Gubio as its consensus governorship candidate, with Zulum expressing gratitude for the support from party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of unity and strategic leadership within the party.
