Farida Isiak Police Arrest Controversy

Farida Isiak, a journalist, was arrested by the Kaduna Police following a Facebook post criticizing the police and a Divisional Police Officer. She was released after intervention from the Commissioner of Police, amid calls for her release from Amnesty International.

Amnesty International has accused the Nigerian police of using the judicial system to target journalist Farida Isiak, who was sentenced to four years in prison over a social media post. She has been released on bail, but her trial continues.

The Kaduna State Police Command defended its handling of journalist Farida Isiak's alleged defamation case, stating her Facebook post targeted the police and an officer's family. The police emphasized the need for context and urged responsible journalism.
