Attack in Benue Community Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

In a violent incident in Benue, one person was killed and several others sustained serious injuries during an attack on a community in Otukpo LGA. The attack occurred within 48 hours of another incident that reportedly left 18 people dead.

Residents described the chaos as armed individuals stormed the community, firing sporadically and causing panic, leading many to flee their homes. Maxwel Ogiri, the chairman of Otukpo LGA, confirmed the incident and stated that the attack was swiftly repelled by a combined team of security operatives.

Following the attack, security personnel initiated a manhunt in the surrounding forests to locate the assailants. Udem Edet, the Police Public Relations Officer, mentioned that she had yet to receive a report on the incident.

The situation in the community has since calmed, with security agencies responding promptly to the crisis.
