Three Killed in Benue Herdsmen Attack on Communities

In a renewed attack by suspected armed herders, three individuals were killed and two others injured in Elulu and Agadagba communities within the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State. The attacks occurred separately between Friday and Saturday night.
A local resident, Ameh, reported that on Saturday night, herders attempted to rustle cows in Agadagba, leading to a confrontation with local youths, resulting in two deaths. Earlier, on Friday, the herders had invaded Elulu village, killing one person and stealing a motorcycle.
Gabriel Adole, the chairman of Ohimini LGA, confirmed the incidents, stating that local security personnel and police have been deployed to prevent further attacks. He noted that normalcy is gradually returning to the affected areas.
The recent violence has been linked to ongoing tensions following the killing of Risku Mohammed, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, on June 24, 2026.
