25 Suspected Cultists Arrested in Akwa Ibom Operation

On May 3, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command conducted an operation in Oku Abak Village, Abak Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of 25 suspected cultists, comprising 10 females and 15 males. The operation was led by the police following credible intelligence and was directed by Commissioner of Police Baba Moham Azar.

The suspects were reportedly gathered at a notorious black spot for secret cult activities. Among the arrested individuals were Ubong Victor, Gabriel Utitofon, and Ella Sundai, among others.

During the operation, police recovered a locally made pistol, two live cartridges, and a red beret from a minibus that was impounded. The police emphasized their commitment to eradicating cultism and criminal activities in the state and urged the public to provide credible information regarding suspicious activities.
