Over 100 Killed, 98,000 Displaced in Taraba Attacks

The Catholic Diocese of Wukari reported that recent violent attacks in Taraba have resulted in over 100 deaths and the displacement of approximately 98,000 people. The attacks, particularly concentrated in the Donga and Takum local government areas, have led to the destruction of 217 churches and significant property damage, with losses amounting to millions of naira.

The diocese's communiqué, signed by Bishop Mark Nzukwein, indicates that the violence has primarily affected communities in the southern part of Taraba, especially in the Yangtu Special Development Area. Among the displaced individuals are 16 priests, and eight priests' residences have also been destroyed.

The situation has left many in dire conditions, with their livelihoods severely impacted.
