Nigerian Army Neutralizes Two Bandits in Taraba Operation

On May 24, 2026, troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army conducted a tactical operation in Akat District, Donga Local Government Area, Taraba State, leading to the neutralization of two suspected armed bandits. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding gunshots heard near the Welcome Donga signpost.

Upon arrival, the troops engaged in a gun duel with the armed suspects, resulting in their neutralization. The operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 magazines, and two mobile phones belonging to the suspects.

Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, the commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift and professional conduct during the operation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining pressure on criminal elements in the region and assured residents of Taraba State of the military's commitment to restoring security.
