PalmPay Empowers 100 Women Through Mentorship Programme
PalmPay selected 100 women from over 1,000 applicants for its Purple Woman Programme, an initiative designed to equip young women with practical skills, mentorship, and career opportunities in technology and other professional fields. The programme's third edition featured a three-day masterclass, after which 10 participants were chosen for six-month internships at PalmPay.
Mbara Stephanie, one of the beneficiaries, joined as an Information Security Intern, stating that the experience transformed her understanding of digital security. She learned to identify risks, monitor unusual activities, and understand preventive measures against security incidents.
Stephanie emphasized that information security involves proactive measures beyond just protecting passwords. She also gained insights into PalmPay's Dey For You security campaign, which encourages customer involvement in account protection.
Paul Oludele, PalmPay Nigeria’s Chief Information Security Officer, noted that the programme provides young talents with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals, contributing to safer digital financial services.
