1,000 Athletes from 15 Oil and Gas Companies Compete in Abuja for 2026 NOGIG

Over 1,000 athletes representing 15 oil and gas companies have gathered in Abuja for the 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games scheduled to take place from February 8 to 14 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. Teams from companies like PTI, NNPC, NUPRC, NMDPR, NCDMB, Oando, TotalEnergies, Western Aradel, ExxonMobil, Shell, SNEPCo, Seplat, Chevron, and NLNG are participating.

Simon Nweke, the Chairman of the Media and Public Subcommittee, mentioned that the athletes are training hard to achieve podium finishes in various sports such as chess, scrabble, snooker, volleyball, basketball, badminton, swimming, tennis, table tennis, and football. The event will also include an opening ceremony with top government officials and dignitaries in attendance.

Local organizing committees are working closely with sports federations to ensure the smooth running of the games.
