Ondo Police Rescue 12 Abducted Passengers from Kidnappers

On Saturday, the Ondo State Police Command, led by spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh, announced the successful rescue of twelve passengers who were abducted by armed kidnappers in the early hours of the day. The victims were traveling in two commercial hummer buses from Benue State to Ibadan when the kidnappers violently intercepted their vehicles near Isua Akoko, in the Akoko South East Local Government Area.

The police received a distress report at 1:30 AM and immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation alongside local hunters and security stakeholders. The operation involved intense bush combing across difficult terrain, which was facilitated by intelligence-led surveillance strategies.

The combined efforts resulted in the successful rescue of all twelve victims, including the bus driver, who were subsequently taken to the hospital for medical attention. The police have made arrangements for the victims to be reunited with their families.

Ongoing efforts are in place to apprehend the kidnappers, with Ondo State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu visiting the scene to strategize further engagement with local vigilante groups.
