Police Rescue Abducted Woman in Ondo After Gun Battle

The Ondo State Police Command successfully rescued a 61-year-old woman, Mr. Modup Oladel, who was abducted by armed men in Owo on June 23, 2026.

The incident occurred in the early hours when armed hoodlums invaded Oladel's residence, abducting him at gunpoint and stealing a Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration number WWW 434 AG. Following a distress call, the police mobilized a team that launched a coordinated pursuit of the suspects.

The police intercepted the armed men around the outskirts of Ojana Phase 3, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The police's superior tactics resulted in the successful rescue of the victim and recovery of the stolen vehicle, while the suspects fled into the surrounding bush, believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation.

The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the recovery of two expended cartridges and a sandal at the scene, and emphasized the command's commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
