Twelve Killed in Plateau State Attacks Amid Violence

In a series of violent attacks in Plateau State, Nigeria, twelve individuals were killed, including farmer Sundai Darian, who was ambushed in the Riyom Local Government Area on Friday, February 21, 2026. The attack occurred around 3:11 PM as Darian was returning from Barkin Ladi.

He sustained severe injuries and was later confirmed dead at the hospital. The following night, nine people were killed in a bar attack in Dorowa, Barkin Ladi LGA, with three others seriously injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that gunmen stormed the area and opened fire, leading to chaos. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, represented by Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, accused local farming communities of killing two teenage herders within 48 hours of the attacks.

Rwang Tengwong, a spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulder Association, confirmed the attacks and the ongoing violence attributed to armed groups. Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh stated that investigations are underway to identify those responsible and restore peace in the region.
