Plateau State Government Condemns Recent Violent Attacks

The Plateau State Government, through Secretary to the State Government Arc Samuel N. Jatau, condemned the recent violent attacks in Dorowa Babuj and Ndung communities within Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, which led to the deaths of 15 individuals and significant property destruction.

The violence began on Thursday, February 19, and escalated until Monday, February 23, with local youth suspecting the involvement of Fulani militia groups. Jatau expressed sadness over the attacks, which occurred during a period of relative peace in the state.

The government received verified reports of security incidents early on Tuesday, February 23, causing heightened tension in the communities. Governor Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang also condemned the attacks, expressing condolences to the families of the victims.

He directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected areas to ensure the apprehension of those responsible for the attacks. Community leaders were urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
