Twelve Cultists Arrested During Initiation in Edo State

On a recent operation, the Nigeria Police Force's anti-cultism unit, under the Edo State Command, arrested twelve suspected cultists during an initiation ceremony. The raid occurred in several locations, including Ekosodin, Isihor, and Ogba Evbuodia, on the 19th Street and Airport Road.

The operation was initiated following a recent killing of a student near the University of Benin's gate. Noah Idemudia, the spokesperson for the police squad, stated that the suspects were not directly linked to the killing but were identified as members of various cult groups.

Incriminating materials were reportedly found during the arrests. The police also sealed properties associated with alleged cult initiation activities and invited owners for questioning.

The operation aimed to address violent crimes linked to cult activities in the state, which have been associated with sophisticated weapons and deadly attacks.
