Thirteen Oyo Lawmakers Defect from PDP to APC

On Tuesday, following the Sallah break, Speaker Abba Tajudeen announced that thirteen members of the Oyo State House of Representatives have switched from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors cited ongoing internal crises and leadership tussles within the PDP as their reason for seeking an alternative political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

The defectors include Anthony Adebayo, Adedeji Olajid, Sundai Makanjuola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Fola Oyekun, and Adigun Adekun. This shift has resulted in a total of six members leaving the PDP's caucus in Oyo State.

Additionally, Auwalu Gwalab from Bauchi State and Shehu Dalhatu from Katsina State also defected from the PDP to the APC. In Delta State, Alex Egbona left the APC for the PDP, while Esosa Iyaw defected from the Labour Party to the PDP.

Gbefwi Gaza from Nasarawa State announced his switch from the Labour Party to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
