El-Rufai Urges Urgent Action for Borno Schoolchildren Rescue

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, called on the Federal Government and security agencies to enhance their efforts in rescuing schoolchildren kidnapped from Borno State. The children were abducted during attacks on Mussa and Lassa communities in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area, with approximately 44 children taken from Mussa Ward on May 15 and 36 from Lassa on June 29.

As the children approach 130 days in captivity, El-Rufai described their continued detention as unacceptable and emphasized the need for urgent action. His appeal followed a protest by parents and residents of the affected communities, who threatened to escalate their demonstration to the Presidential Villa if the children were not rescued within six days.

El-Rufai commended security agencies for their recent successes, including the rescue of schoolchildren in Oyo State, but stressed that these successes should motivate further efforts to secure the release of the Borno children.
