Borno Families Demand Urgent Rescue of Abducted Children

Families of 42 pupils and students from Mussa Primary and Junior Day Secondary School in Askira-Uba, Borno State, held a press conference in Abuja on Friday, marking 100 days since their abduction on May 15, 2026. They called on the Federal Government and Borno State government to intensify efforts for the immediate and safe release of their loved ones.

The families expressed their distress over the prolonged captivity, which has caused them unbearable fear and anxiety. They also demanded urgent rescue operations for 36 students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, abducted on June 29, and 38 persons taken along Buratai Road to Maiduguri.

Malla Gadzama, Secretary of the Hawul/Askira-Uba Elders Forum, appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to utilize all available security resources for the victims' release. The families urged Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to collaborate with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.

They emphasized the need for regular communication from the government regarding rescue efforts and stronger security around schools and vulnerable areas.
