14 Drown in Kebbi Boat Accident After Wedding Ceremony

On Sunday, a tragic boat accident occurred in Kebbi State, resulting in the drowning of 14 individuals, including 12 sisters of a bride. The incident took place as the wedding cortege was returning from Gwarzo Village across the Ngaski Local Government Area.

The boat, which was reportedly overloaded, capsized at dusk, throwing around 100 passengers into the water. Among the deceased was an elderly woman who identified herself as Simpli Danhundeji.

The victims were buried according to Islamic rites. Abubakar Shuaibu, the chairperson of Yauri Local Government Area, confirmed the details of the incident.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed condolences to the families of the victims and urged the community to accept the tragedy as God's will, offering words of comfort during the funeral held on Monday.
