N20m Grant for 150 Innovative University Projects

The 2026 Grooming Centre University research grant will allocate N20 million to approximately 150 innovative academic projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Announced by Chimfurumnaya Chukwuekem, Assistant Manager of Research and Development at CREM Consulting, the grant scheme is open to all eligible students without discrimination based on age, gender, religion, or ethnicity.

This year, 50 postgraduate and 100 undergraduate students will benefit. Since its inception in 2019, the scheme has awarded prizes to 659 students.

Applications opened on August 31 and will close on October 23, 2026. Eligible research proposals must focus on areas such as financial inclusion, microfinance, rural development, social enterprise, and technological development, among others, and must be relevant to the Nigerian context.

Clifford Onyeike, COO of CREM Consulting, emphasized the need for originality and data inclusiveness in the proposals, stating that selected beneficiaries must submit their final projects to the center.
