16 Vigilantes Killed, 42 Residents Abducted in Bandit Raid on Niger Communities

In a deadly bandit attack in Niger State, 16 vigilantes were killed and 42 residents were abducted in Mashegu Local Government Area between November 9 and November 13, 2025. The attacks led to residents fleeing their communities for safety.

The bandits targeted Dutsen Magaji and Magama villages, resulting in casualties and abductions. The Mashegu Local Government Chairman, Mal Isah Ibrahim Bokuta, praised the vigilantes for their bravery in defending the community.

The Niger State Police Command, represented by Wasiu Abiodun, is yet to provide a detailed report on the incidents.
