UNN to Graduate 12,895 Students, 168 First Class Honours

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is set to graduate 12,895 students during its 55th Convocation Ceremony, with 168 achieving First Class honours. Vice-Chancellor Prof.

Simon Ortuanya announced this during a press briefing. Of the total graduates, 10,641 will receive first degrees and diplomas, while 2,944 will be awarded postgraduate qualifications, including 1,390 Doctor of Philosophy degrees and 1,340 Master’s degrees.

The ceremony will confer honorary doctorate degrees on Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, High Chief Williams Agbo, Arc.

Dr. Kaycee Kelechi Orji, and Dr.

William Franklyn Richardson. Additionally, two retired academics, Prof.

Peter-Jazzy Ezeh and Prof. Boniface Obinna Okere, will be honored with the title of Professor Emeritus.

The convocation lecture will be delivered by Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, with former Vice-Chancellor Prof.

Ositadinma Nebo chairing the event. Prof.

Ortuanya also highlighted significant achievements, including increased admission quotas for Medicine and Dentistry, the unbundling of the Department of Mass Communication, and ongoing infrastructure projects across the university.
