EFCC Investigates 18 States for Fund Mismanagement

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that approximately 18 states are under investigation for allegations of mismanagement of public funds. Wilson Uwujaren, the Director of Public Affairs at the EFCC, made this announcement during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, although he refrained from naming the states involved.

Uwujaren confirmed that the EFCC's actions included restricting an account belonging to the Osun State Government, which is part of a broader strategy against various state governments. He mentioned that a similar restriction had previously been placed on an Edo State Government account.

Uwujaren clarified that the EFCC's interventions are lawful and not targeted at any specific administration. He also explained that the restriction on Osun State only affects one statutory account, allowing the government to operate its other accounts.

When questioned about the lack of intervention during the Ekiti State election, Uwujaren cited differing circumstances and intelligence available only to the EFCC.
