Court Denies Bail to KC Luxury in Major Cocaine Case

Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed bail applications from Afolabi Michael Kazeem, known as KC Luxury, and his co-defendants, Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch. They were arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a 22-count charge related to conspiracy, cocaine trafficking, and money laundering, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The NDLEA's counsel opposed the bail requests, citing the serious nature of the charges and the risk of the defendants absconding. Justice Kakaki emphasized the significant quantity of narcotics involved, allegedly intended for international distribution.
The defendants are accused of conspiring to export 184.5 kg of cocaine concealed in consignments through a Lagos-based courier to London. The court has scheduled the trial for November 2, 3, 4, and 5, and ordered the defendants to be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the trial.
