NDLEA Arrests Social Media Influencer KC Luxury in Major Cocaine Cartel Bust

On August 13, 2026, authorities from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency apprehended Afolabi Kazeem Michael at Murtala Muhammed International Airport as he attempted to depart Nigeria. The suspect, known publicly as a luxury goods dealer and social media personality, headed an international cocaine trafficking network.

This operation culminated in seizing 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine, valued at approximately N39 billion. According to NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, the syndicate exploited Nigeria's position as a transit hub for moving illegal narcotics destined for markets across the United Kingdom, European territories, and Asian regions.

Authorities intercepted the drug shipment after it was hidden in a commercial consignment. Agency officials characterised this investigation as among their most consequential drug-related cases in recent times.

Michael had constructed an elaborate public persona emphasizing opulence and material excess. Prior to his apprehension, social media videos circulated showcasing his extensive automobile collection—notably Mercedes-Maybach vehicles purportedly designed by the late Virgil Abloh—together with premium watches and other valuables.

Following his detention announcement, these previously shared videos began circulating anew online. The cocaine recovery represents Nigeria's biggest narcotics seizure accomplished through a courier logistics channel, according to enforcement personnel.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman, disclosed operational specifics, including financial assessments the cartel had projected for the intercepted consignment. During a Tuesday press conference held in Lagos, the chairman addressed media representatives, underscoring how extensively the trafficking scheme operated across national boundaries.
