Nigerian Red Cross Provides Aid to 1,900 Displaced Families in Benue State

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, in partnership with the IFRC, has initiated a humanitarian mission to assist 1,900 displaced households in Benue State. The aid distribution, funded through the Disaster Response Emergency Fund, targets families affected by communal clashes and armed attacks in six local government areas.

Each household is receiving cash assistance of N100,000 along with essential non-food items like kitchen sets, mats, blankets, mosquito nets, water purification tablets, and jerrycans. The intervention aims to support victims in rebuilding their lives and maintaining healthy living conditions in temporary shelters.

The IFRC's field coordinator, Abdullahi Fye, highlighted the response to a request for support following herder banditry attacks in June and July.
