Tragic Water Accidents Claim Two Lives in Kano, Nigeria

In Kano, Nigeria, two fatal incidents took place on February 5, 2026. The first incident happened in Bachirawa Kwanar Madugu, Ungogo Local Government Area, where 18-year-old Sulaiman Abdullahi Tela fell into an open water source and tragically drowned.

The second incident occurred in Kofar Yamma Karay, Karay Local Government Area, involving an eight-year-old boy, Abdussalam Ibrahim, who also fell into water and lost his life. The Kano State Fire Service promptly responded to distress calls in both cases, but the victims were found unconscious and later pronounced dead.

The deceased individuals were identified as Yusif Malam Gwani Isah and Jibrin Isah in the first incident, and Abdussalam Ibrahim in the second incident. The victims were handed over to their families after the rescue attempts.

The Kano State Fire Service expressed condolences to the bereaved families and urged residents to take precautionary measures around open wells and water sources to prevent similar tragedies.
