Police Officers Injured in Assassination Attempt on Ibezi

On April 26, 2026, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, a Reps aspirant from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The incident occurred as Ibezi was set to host a stakeholder meeting. According to a statement, armed men, allegedly from a local security outfit named Udogachi, stormed the venue, creating panic and tension.

Upon arrival, the police officers assigned to provide security were confronted by the armed group, which became violent and fired gunshots. Unfortunately, two police officers were injured in the attack and were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment, with reports indicating they are undergoing surgery.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, highlighting the serious nature of the attack aimed at disrupting the peaceful gathering.
