Gunfire Erupts at Anambra Stakeholder Meeting

A gunshot incident occurred during a stakeholder meeting in Agbaja Abatet, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, injuring two security personnel. The meeting, scheduled to discuss the upcoming general elections, was attended by APGA Reps aspirant Dr. Ifeanyi Ibezi.

Allegations arose of an assassination attempt against Ibezi, with claims that thugs loyal to Chief Stanlei Nkwoka, the chairman of Idemili North LGA, attacked the meeting. Tensions escalated when armed personnel confronted security operatives at the venue, leading to gunfire that caused panic.

A purported letter circulated on social media, allegedly from Nkwoka, warned against the meeting, which Ibezi claimed was not officially delivered. Nkwoka accused Ibezi of using intimidation tactics and stated that the council would no longer tolerate such actions.

The incident highlights the ongoing political tensions in the region as both parties prepare for the elections.
