Gunmen Ambush Police Officers, Killing Two in Anambra

On Sunday night, gunmen ambushed police officers returning from duty along Awa Ufuma Road in Anambra State, resulting in the deaths of two officers. The attack occurred near the Amansea, Ndiora, and Ndiukwuenu areas of Orumba South Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire, causing panic among local residents. A tricycle rider, who was on the road at the time, turned back to seek safety upon hearing the shots.

The two officers were found lifeless beside their patrol van, with blood visible in a video circulating online. Anambra State Police Command, led by CP Ikioy Orutugu, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was underway to track down the assailants.

The police have also issued warnings to motorists and the public to exercise caution around unauthorized checkpoints and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
