CIPMN Warns of Jail Time for Unlicensed Project Managers
The Chartered Institute of Project Management Nigeria (CIPMN) has issued a warning that individuals who manage projects without a license could face a two-year jail term. This statement was made by the CEO, Henri Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, during the first batch induction ceremony for 2026 held in Abuja on Tuesday.
The CIPMN Act stipulates that no one in the public or private sector can lead project delivery in Nigeria without a license. Mbadiwe emphasized that both individuals and organizations that hire unlicensed project managers will be held accountable.
He stressed the importance of enforcing this law to ensure proper project delivery and management across Nigeria. The CIPMN aims to enhance the skills of licensed project managers to deliver value to the Nigerian populace.
Emmanuel Olabode Afolayan, the President and Chairman of the Council of CIPMN, also urged the need for responsible project delivery, highlighting the significance of compliance with the law.
