LIRS Sets Deadline for Lagos Employers to File 2025 Tax Returns, Threatens Penalties

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a deadline of January 31, 2026, for employers in Lagos State to file their annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year. Failure to comply with this statutory deadline may result in penalties as per the new tax law.

Dr. Subair, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, emphasized the mandatory legal obligation for employers to submit comprehensive details of emoluments paid to employees and applicable taxes.

Employers are urged to ensure early and accurate filing through the LIRS eTax platform to simplify tax compliance processes.
