Lagos State Extends Deadline for Annual Tax Returns to Feb. 7, 2026

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced an extension of the deadline for filing annual tax returns for employees to February 7, 2026. Dr.

Ayodele Subair, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, explained that the statutory deadline, which is usually January 31 each year, has been extended to allow employees more time to complete and submit accurate tax returns. The extension aims to ensure compliance and embed routine business practices.

Subair emphasized the importance of using the LIRS eTax platform for filing, stating that it is a secure, user-friendly method accessible 24/7. Employers are advised to ensure that the Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) of their employees are correctly captured during submission.
