2025 WASSCE: Stakeholders blast WAEC, demand investigations, sanctions

Stakeholders in the education sector have criticized the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for its sudden changes to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, stakeholders have demanded an independent investigation and sanctions against the council's management team.

They argue that the inconsistencies in the examination results could damage Nigeria's academic credibility both locally and internationally. WAEC had initially announced a pass rate of 10%, but after a review, the pass rate was revised upward to 20%.

This discrepancy has raised concerns about the council's credibility and integrity in the education assessment system. Stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and candidates, are calling for urgent investigations by the Federal Ministry of Education, Presidency, and National Assembly to address the issue and ensure transparency in the examination process.
