Atiku Abubakar Accuses Tinubu of Budget Manipulation

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has raised concerns regarding the alleged diversion of funds in the 2026 budget, specifically targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for potential complicity or ignorance in the matter. In a statement issued by Prank Shaibu, a senior special assistant on public communication, Abubakar highlighted that the budget contains a billion naira allocation for road projects under the National Commission for Almajiri Education, which he argues lacks the mandate for road construction.

He pointed out specific allocations, including 1.4 billion naira for various road projects, questioning the legitimacy of these expenditures. Abubakar described the move as a betrayal of the 20 million school children the commission is supposed to serve.

He further criticized the administration for hiding questions about the project and for a pattern of budget manipulation, referencing previous allegations from the 2023 budget. Abubakar called for transparency and an independent investigation into these matters, emphasizing the need for accountability in governance.
