Keyamo Challenges CSOs on Representing Nigerians in Elections

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, addressed civil society organizations (CSOs) regarding their comments on the electoral process in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He stated that CSOs should not claim to speak for Nigerians without a valid basis, particularly in light of their recent conclusions about the elections in FCT, Kano, and Rivers State.

Keyamo reacted to concerns raised by CSOs about voter apathy, logistical shortcomings, and alleged political interference in the electoral conduct. He emphasized that real Nigerians should express their opinions directly rather than through CSOs, which he accused of lacking a proper understanding of the electoral landscape.

Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, the Executive Director of CISLAC and Chairman of TMG, had previously warned that Nigerians are gradually losing trust in the electoral process, as evidenced by declining voter turnout. Keyamo's remarks were made via social media, highlighting the ongoing debate about the role of CSOs in representing public opinion.
