Youth Group Advocates Peaceful Participation in FCT Elections

The youth-led civic organization, CJAN, founded by Ajayi Taiwo Adeola, has called upon young people and corps members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to lead peaceful participation in the forthcoming area council elections. These elections will take place across six area councils: Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali.

In a press statement, Ajayi emphasized that grassroots elections directly impact issues affecting young people, such as primary healthcare services, sanitation, education, and local economic opportunities. He urged eligible voters to prioritize candidates with clear plans for youth development and job creation while warning against political violence and divisive rhetoric.

Ajayi also highlighted the expectation for corps members to remain neutral and promote civic responsibility, encouraging young citizens to reject inducements and demand accountable leadership. CJAN reaffirmed its commitment to non-partisan advocacy and increasing youth participation in governance, urging young voters across the FCT to exercise their civic rights peacefully.
