PDP Forms Legal Team for 2026 FCT Election Complaints

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has formed a special legal team, headed by legal adviser Shafi Bara, to address genuine complaints arising from the area council elections held in Abuja on February 21, 2026. Following the elections, the PDP expressed dissatisfaction with the results, particularly noting a lower-than-expected number of victories despite some successes, including the election of Moham Kasim as chairman of the Gwagwalada area council.

The party highlighted issues of voter intimidation and the influence of armed security personnel on the electoral process, which they believe undermined the integrity of the elections. The PDP has urged aggrieved candidates to contact their legal adviser for prompt action in filing an electoral petition.

The statement emphasized the need for immediate corrective measures to restore faith in the electoral process ahead of the upcoming general elections in 2027.
