PDP Forms Legal Team After FCT Area Council Elections

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) congratulated its candidates following the recent FCT Area Council elections, specifically acknowledging Mohammed Kasim, who was declared the winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The PDP expressed concerns over the conduct of the elections, alleging intimidation and interference by the ruling party, which they described as unprecedented.

In response to these issues, the PDP announced the establishment of a special legal team to handle post-election complaints and litigations arising from the polls. The party attributed the low voter turnout to flaws in the electoral process and called for urgent reforms to the Electoral Act before the 2027 general elections.

The statement was issued on Sunday and signed by Ini Ememobong, the party's Publicity Secretary.
